Conference on the Framework for Action of the Education 2030 Agenda (E2030)

chileMs. Yvette Halley, Head of the Exam Division and Mrs. Ruth Verbeek- Linger, Acting Head of the Department of Education represented St. Maarten at the Conference on the Framework for Action of the Education 2030 Agenda (E2030), on August 9th to 10th in Santiago, Chile.

The purpose of the meeting is to conduct a policy debate on teachers and learning, as well as share information and experiences as how to address the challenges of these two key areas, in order to meet the E2030 Agenda goals in the region.

The overall expected result of the meeting was to share information and solid evidence for decision-making in the fields of teaching, learning and evaluation, bearing in mind the implementation of the SDG-4 goals in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

The main topics addressed at the conference:

  • What competencies for the 21st century, teacher training and inclusion
  • Teacher policies: training, performance and challenges for the 21st century skills
  • Teaching career: challenges and recommendations
  • ICTs at the service of learning: the role of teachers
  • Global Citizenship Education and how to evaluate it
  • Trends in measuring learning outcomes in the 21st century: challenges and recommendations
  • Towards meeting education quality in the context of E 2030 (LLECE)
  • The uses of evaluation for teaching and learning
  • Future developments of LLECE
